TAUNTON – Jose Correia, 91, passed away at Morton Hospital on Jan. 28, 2015, leaving his devoted wife of fifty-three years, Maria (Santo) Correia of Taunton.
Born in Fayal, Azores, he was the son of the late Joao and Maria Correia.
He was a veteran of the Portuguese Army. A resident of Taunton since 1964, Jose was employed by Reed & Barton Silversmiths for many years before retiring in 1988.
He was a communicant of St. Anthony Church.
In his spare time, Jose enjoyed gardening, which he did until the age of 90.
He enjoyed daily walks and trips to the beach; and enjoyed and had a keen interest in animals of all kinds.
His favorite pastime was spending time with his family and friends.
In addition to his wife, Jose leaves three sons, Luis Correia and his wife Karen of Pembroke, Joseph Correia and his wife Justine and David Correia, all of Taunton; three daughters, Eulalia “Lee” Rodrigues and her husband Michael of Taunton, Lucia DeMello and her husband Robert of Rehoboth, and Diane Correia of Taunton; a brother, Antonio Correia Rosa and his wife Madeline of Florida and five grandchildren, Tyler, Kayla, Kelsey, Amelia and Christian.
He was also the brother of the late Francisco, Maria, Rosalina and Ana Correia Rosa.
His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Tuesday, Feb. 3rd at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Anthony Church at 11 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, Feb. 1st from 2 to 5 p.m.
