Obituary

NATICK: Anthony S. Grupposo, age 83, of Natick and Wareham, died peacefully on Tuesday afternoon, January 27, 2015, surrounded by his family. He was the devoted husband of the late Ruth O. (Rooney) Grupposo for 57 years.

Born, raised and educated in Natick, Tony was a son of the late Michele and Candelora (Berardini) Grupposo. He served with the US Army during the Korean War and was married to Ruth in 1956.

Tony and Ruth had made Natick their home for the majority of their married life. Civic minded and outgoing, Tony was a longtime Natick Town Meeting member and had served the town as Constable. He worked in retail grocery throughout his career, starting at the A&P Store in Natick. Tony would be employed with A&P for nearly twenty years, working in Wellesley, and, ultimately as Assistant Manager of the Framingham store. He then joined the Hi-Lo Store in Framingham, where he was Store Manager until his retirement. For a number of years to follow, he worked part time with his friends at Town Line Liquors.

A golfer and Atlanta Braves fan, Tony was happiest when with Ruth, either in the company of their growing extended family or just as a couple. After enjoying family vacations in Wareham for years, they settled there in 2000.

Predeceased by Ruth in March of 2013, he is survived by his sons, Mark L. Grupposo of Natick, and John A. Grupposo and his wife Diana of Tampa, FL; two daughters, Ellen P. Knott and her husband Steven of Natick, and Joanne Miga and her husband Christopher of Franklin; nine grandchildren, Domenic, David, Hannah, Olivia, Stephanie, Andrea, Steven, Michael, and Sarah; his brother-in-law, Kevin J.
