Albert “Al” D'Ovidio, 87 of Somerville, died Sunday after a brief illness in the de Rham Hospice Home, Cambridge.

Born in East Boston, he has resided in Somerville for the past 80 years and was the son of the late Emilia (DiGiovanni) and Joseph D'Ovidio. Albert was a retired Plumber with the former Naimo Plumbing of Somerville. He served during World War II in the U.S. Army from 1946 to 1947. Al enjoyed bowling and fishing.

Beloved husband of Elizabeth (D'Abenigno) D’Ovidio. Devoted father of Albert J. D'Ovidio of New Hampshire, Marie D. D'Amore of Burlington, Linda Bicknell of Groton, John G. D'Ovidio of Somerville, James D'Ovidio of Walpole and Nina Wadkins of Winthrop. Also survived by 10 loving grandchildren and 1 loving great grandson. Brother of Ida D'Ovidio of Medford, Frederick D'Ovidio of New York, Yolanda Leon of Stoneham, Joseph D'Ovidio of Somerville and Richard D'Ovidio of Medford.

A Funeral Service will be celebrated in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., MEDFORD Tuesday, February 3 at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Monday 4-8 PM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent in Albert’s name to the Elizabeth Evarts de Rham Hospice House, 65 Chilton St., Cambridge, MA 02138.
