Obituary

Evelyn A. Sevcik (Evanicky), of La Grange entered into eternal life on January 28, 2015. Evelyn was born April 7, 1930 in Plum to Joseph and Albina Evanicky. She was baptized on April 20, 1930 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Plum. On May 22, 1944 she married Leon A. Sevcik at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Plum. Evelyn was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Catholic Daughters of America.
In the 1940’s Evelyn and Leon packed up and moved to Galveston where they raised 4 children and ran Hugo’s Place for many years before returning to La Grange in the 1970’s. After settling back home, they opened the Pastime Club on the square in La Grange which became a favorite hangout spot for many. Evelyn kept the Pastime Club up and running for many successful years before retiring in 2001. Since then, she spent her days with her family doing what she loved best; traveling back to Galveston for visits, playing dominoes, cooking festive meals including her famous banana cake, and most importantly being together with family making precious memories.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Leon of 54 years, her son Leon A. Sevcik, Jr., her grandsons Kirk Gonsoulin and Leon “Bubba” A. Sevcik III, her great- grandson Alan M. Sevcik, her daughter-in-law Darla J. Sevcik, and two sisters Alma Schulze and Alice Myers.
She is survived by her son Anthony Sevcik of La Grange, daughter Laura Sevcik Amos of Santa Fe, son Hugo Sevcik and wife Sally Ann of Austin, daughter-in-law Mardell Sevcik of Bryan/College Station, and sister Clara Fillip of Ammansville, TX. Nine grandchildren Lisa Lindemulder and husband Mark, Patrick Sevcik and wife Kaye, Holly Loftin and husband Aaron, Jason Sevcik and wife Amina, Melissa Knape and husband Bryce, Phillip Amos, Tabitha Darden and husband Drew, Skye Sevcik and Dawn Sevcik. Thirteen great- grandchildren Aaron, Adam, Lauren, Lexie, Tyler, Kelsey, Camryn, Court, Kaylen, Julia, Lucas Ray, Akyra, and Catalina. Four great-great-grandchildren Garrett, Jackson, Aiden and Baby Alan Sevcik.
Visitation will be held Saturday, January 31, 2015 from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM and Sunday February 1, 2015 from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM at Fayette Memorial Funeral Home. Rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Sacted Heart Catholic Church in La Grange at 10:00 A.M. Monday February 2, 2015.
Interment will follow at La Grange City Cemetery.
