New Bedford – Artur F. DoBem, age 80 of New Bedford, passed away on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the loving husband of 41 years to Deolinda (Da Costa) DoBem and the son of Francisca (Silveira) and Jaime F. DoBem.
Mr. DoBem was born in St. George, Azores, moved to this country in 1968 and worked at Brittany Dye and Printing for several years until his retirement.
Artur was a dedicated member of The Holy Ghost Society of Mount Carmel and the Holy Ghost Society of Horseneck.
He is survived by his wife, Deolinda DoBem of New Bedford; 2 sons: Steven A. DoBem and Jason M. DoBem, both of New Bedford; 3 grandchildren: Taylor J. DoBem, Austin S. DoBem, and Briana M. DoBem; 4 brothers: Jose DoBem of San Jose, California, Manuel DoBem and Joaquim DoBem both of Dartmouth, and Jaime DoBem of New Bedford; as well as several nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be Thursday February 5 beginning in the funeral home at 9:30 A.M. with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Cremation to follow. Visiting hours will take place in the funeral home on Wednesday, February 4 from 6 – 8 P.M. Please omit flowers.
