Vance Sledge, 61, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Monday, January 26, 2015, at Dorminy Medical Center in Fitzgerald.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Wednesday, January 28, 2015, at Central United Methodist Church in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Keith Goodlett and the Rev. B. J. Funk officiating. His son Andrew will give the eulogy. Interment will follow at 4 PM in the Ty Ty Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 12:30 until the service hour at the church.
Mr. Sledge was born February 3, 1953, in Tifton, Georgia, to the late William and Mary Elizabeth Vance Sledge. A former resident of Albany, Sylvester and Tifton, he had lived in the community for a year and a half. Mr. Sledge was a courier for JLA Global and enjoyed the outdoors; camping, hunting and fishing. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church in Fitzgerald.
He is survived by his wife: Jeaneanne Sledge of Fitzgerald; two sons: Andrew & Stacy Sledge of Atlanta and Anthony & Chanel Sledge of Leesburg; two grandchildren: Kyla Michelle Sledge and Claire Elizabeth Sledge; two stepsons: Michael & Hannah Williams and Matthew Williams, all of Marietta and a brother: Steve Sledge of Albany. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother: David Sledge and his first wife: Jan Golden Sledge.
