Obituary

Mary J. (Manna) Healey, 99, of New Bedford died Tuesday January 20, 2015 at Royal Taber Street Nursing Home three days prior to her 100th birthday. She was the wife of the late Henry K. "Pat" Healey.

Born in New Bedford on January 23, 1915, the daughter of the late Joseph and Nunziata (Sparta) Manna, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.

She was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church, where she was a member of the Ladies Guild. She was the recipient of the Marian Medal from the Diocese of Fall River.

Mrs. Healey was a talented seamstress who was employed by Mass. Shirt Company and Kay Windsor Manufacturing.

She is survived by five sisters, Anne Coelho of New Bedford, Josephine Devlin of Dartmouth, Joanna Whitehead and Grace Surprenant, both of California, and Eleanor Taylor of Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late Lee Hines, and Emidio and John Manna.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday January 31, 2015 at 10 AM at St. Francis of Assisi Church. Private burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours are omitted. Arrangements are by the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
