Obituary

WEBSTER – George E. Giroux, 86, died Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Harrington Healthcare at Hubbard after being stricken ill at home.
He leaves his wife of 57 years, Norma A. (Rybacki) Giroux; 2 sons, Jay E. Giroux and his wife Sandra of Dudley and Kevin E. Giroux and his wife Tracy of Webster; 5 grandchildren, Tony, Karlee, Jake, Sam and Erin Giroux; 2 great-grandchildren, Hayley and Cody; nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by 3 sisters and a brother.
He was born in Worcester, the son of Albert and Annette A. (Levasseur) Giroux and lived in Spencer for 8 years before moving to Webster in 1936.
He was a United States Navy veteran, serving from 1946 to 1948 as a seaman second class.
Mr. Giroux first worked in construction for LaPlante Brothers for 27 years. He then was the custodian at the Webster Town Hall for 21 years before he retired in 1999.
He was a weekly adorer at the Blessed Sacrament Chapel. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren.
Mr. Giroux graciously donated his body to Harvard Medical School in Boston for anatomical and biological research. There are no funeral services planned. Donations in his name may be made to the Blessed Sacrament Chapel, 17 East Main St., Webster, MA 01570. Arrangements are under the direction of Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main Street.
