TAUNTON – Dorothy “Dolly” (Benevides) Dupont, wife of John R. Dupont, Sr. of Taunton, died at Morton Hospital on Jan. 23, 2015 following a short illness.
She was 89.
Born in Somerset, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Maria Benevides.
A homemaker for most of her adult life, she moved to the Taunton many years ago.
Dolly was a member of The Holy Rosary Society of the former Our Lady of Lourdes Church and a communicant of Annunciation of the Lord Church.
She enjoyed bingo, trips to Atlantic City, bowling, cake decorating and flower arranging.
Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends.
In addition to her husband of seventy years, she leaves two sons, John R. Dupont, Jr. and his wife Denise of Norton and Mark A. Dupont and his wife Sharon of Taunton; a daughter, Cynthia Martin of Taunton; a sister, Elsie Bradbury of Somerset; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also the sister of of the late Manuel, Joseph and John Benevides, Mary Garcia, Louise Braga and Anna Souza.
Her funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Thursday, Jan. 29th at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at Annunciation of The Lord Church at 10 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, January 28th from 4 to 8 p.m.
