Ethel G. Christian passed away peacefully at the Life Care Center of Stoneham. She was 96. Born in Charlestown and raised in Somerville she was the daughter of the late William F. and Catherine (Herbert) Smith. A Somerville resident for all of her life, she was a devoted and loving wife and mother. She worked at the First National and later as a custodian at the Somerville Public Library. Devoted to the care of her daughter, Ethel enjoyed the company of her family and friends and especially enjoyed time at the family summer home in Salem, NH.


The beloved wife of the late Kenneth Christian, Ethel was a devoted and loving mother to Patricia Christian of Somerville. She was a dear sister of the late William T., John, and Harold Smith. She also leaves many dear nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be celebrated in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Thursday at 1 PM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family from 12 – 1 PM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent in Ethel’s name to a charity of one’s choice.
