Ida Damiano
Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Sunday, January 18, 2015, Mrs. Ida Damiano, 90, loving wife of 56 years to the late Leonard Damiano.
Mrs. Damiano was born in 1924 to Nicola and Lucia Spolidoro in Salerno, Italy. Ida married Leonard in 1950 in Italy and came to America in 1951. She was a talented artist, seamstress, cook and with her caring spirit took care of her family. Her favorite past time was shopping with the three musketeers (Ms. Ellen, Ms. Mabel, and Ms. Maria). She volunteered at St. Joseph Hospital as a pink lady for many years. She was a member of the Italian American Club and St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church. The joy of her life was taking care of her beautiful granddaughters.
Family members include her daughter: Angela D. O’Brien (David); son: Frank Damiano (Adele); granddaughters: Kelly Meyer (Chad), Katie O’Brien; great grandchildren: Dylan and Hailey; sisters: Letizia Nigro of Rome, Italy, Esterina Marino of Vaggiana, Italy; brother-in-law: Mr. Anthony Damiano (Elizabeth); special niece: Gloria King (Gary); nephews: Tony Damiano, Jr., Freddie Russo (Karen); many nieces and nephews in Italy; also including family members, Dianna and Timothy Russo. In addition to her husband she is preceded in death by her sisters: Ninetta and Rosetta Spolidoro; brother: Meme Spolidoro all from Italy; and nephew: Frank Russo (Viviane).
A funeral Mass will be held Thursday, January 22, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church with Fr. Michael Hull and Fr. Gerald Ragan celebrant. Burial will follow in Magnolia Cemetery.
Special appreciation to her caregiver, Angela Rozier, who became like family to us all and also to Trinity Hospice, Molly, Dee, Leona, and Angie for their guidance and care.
