Lawrence J. Poirier age 90 of Canton passed away January 17th at home surrounded by his loving family. Born and raised in Canton, he graduated from Canton High School and was a lifelong resident of the town. He was an Army Veteran of WW II. He was a Mechanic for many years at the family business Poirier’s Garage in Canton. He enjoyed golfing, gardening and traveling to Europe, England and Italy. He was an active member of Faith Baptist Church in Stoughton where he was a Deacon and taught Sunday School. Beloved husband of Irene R. Deagle Poirier (Young) and the late Alma M. (Iaretti). Father of John Poirier and his wife Louise of N. Dighton and the late Lawrence J. Jr and Patricia Healey. Stepfather of Ritchie Deagle and his wife Carol of AZ and the late James and Charles Deagle. Father in law of Dianne Poirier of Canton, Thomas Healey of Plainville and Bonnie Deagle of Brockton. Brother of the late Jean Schmidt. Also survived by 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Visiting hours at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home 455 Washington St. Canton Tuesday 4-8 pm. Funeral service at the Faith Baptist Church 18 Stoughton St. Stoughton Wednesday morning at 11.
