Obituary

CONNORS, Maurice L.
96, of Andover, formerly of Wellesley and Lexington. Born in Pawcatuck, CT, died peacefully January 14, 2015, at home surrounded by his family after a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of the late Agnes F. (Shanley) Connors. Born in Pawcatuck, CT, he was the son of the late Timothy J. and Anna (Kelly) Connors, and brother of the late James Connors and Patricia M. (Connors) Curran. He graduated from the University of Rhode Island in 1940 and was employed as a Mechanical Engineer for the U.S. Army Material Command at the Watertown Arsenal for 33 years. He was a Lieutenant in the United States Navy during WWII, serving as a Communications Officer on Admiral Chester Nimitz’s staff at Pearl Harbor, HI. He was always an avid vegetable gardener, prolific reader and letter-writer. He is survived by his son, Maurice Connors and his wife, Mary Frances of Holliston and daughter, Anne P. Connors of Andover and his brother, T. Joseph Connors and his wife, Betty, of Westerly, RI. He was the proud grandfather of five; Kimberly and her husband, Mark Birch of Bellingham, Jennifer A. Doherty of Andover, Alicia and her husband, Todd Hammond, of Sutton, Katherine and her husband, Lonnie Elderidge of Louisville, KY, and Edward Connors and his wife, Julie, of Hopedale, and the great-grandfather of six. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

There are no calling hours, however, the family invites friends to St. Michael church, 196 Main Street, North Andover, MA, preceding the Mass of Christian Burial, to be held on Tuesday, January 20, 2015, at 11:30 am. Burial immediately following at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Lowell, MA.
