NATICK: Dorothy Mary (Hughes) Harvie, age 89, a former longtime Natick resident, died peacefully early Tuesday morning, January 13, 2015, in Central New Jersey, her home for the past several years. She was the devoted wife of the late James Brooks Harvie.
Born in Boston, Mrs. Harvie was a daughter of the late John Hazen and Winifred Maber Hughes. Dorothy was a faithful Communicant of Saint Patrick’s Church and a retired bookkeeper who had enjoyed many years of employment with Wellesley College.
Predeceased by her son, Robert J. Harvie in 2002, she is survived by her sons Richard J. Harvie and his wife Cynthia Smith of East Montpelier, VT, and David B. Harvie and his husband Mark Nebus of Edison, NJ; a sister, Carol DeBenedictis and her husband Lawrence of Billerica; a brother, Richard Hughes and his wife Marilyn of Billerica; two granddaughters, Sarah Harvie and Kaitlin Harvie; and two great-grandsons, Mason Harvie and Jackson Parker. She was also the sister of the late Barbara DeMarco.
Her funeral will be from the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street at Natick Common on Monday, January 19th at 9AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at Saint Patrick’s Church, Natick, at 10:00AM. Burial will follow in Saint Patrick Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Sunday 2 – 5PM.
