Cecil Ray Diamond, Sr.

Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Thursday, January 15, 2015, Mr. Cecil Ray Diamond, Sr., 91, husband to the late Pearllie L. Diamond and the late Lorene Whaley Diamond.

Mr. Diamond spent most of his life as a resident of Augusta and lived at St. John’s Towers. He was a member of Central Baptist Church where he served as an elder and a long time Sunday School teacher of the Book of Revelation. Mr. Diamond served in the United States Army during World War II and the Korean War. He retired from the Uptown VA where he worked as a Master Electrician.

Family members include his children: Barbara Mutimer (Blair) of Evans, Cecil Ray Diamond, Jr. (Jan) of Appling and Sherry Keel (Joe) of Waynesboro; 12 grandchildren; several great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; brother: Jimmy Diamond of South Carolina; and sister: Almeda West (Irby) of Augusta. Mr. Diamond was preceded in death by his parents: Charlie and Katie Diamond; and brothers: Harry, Clyde and Jack Diamond.

A funeral service will be Sunday, January 18, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel at Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Jerry Wilson. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
