Obituary

SALEM – Joseph J. Moran, 89, of Salem and formerly of Lawrence, passed away Monday January 12, 2015 at the Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, now with his Lorraine, “Together Forever”, surrounded by his loving family.
Born and educated in Lawrence, MA, he was the son of John and Grace (Hall) Moran and was a graduate of Lawrence High School. Joseph proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy, first during World War II and again from 1950 – 1952 in the Korean Conflict, and received and was honorably discharged from service.
For more than 40 years he was employed with Lawrence Paperboard, Mead Packaging in Lawrence. He was a member of the Salem VFW, the Arlington Club, the Over the Spicket Gang/Panthers Club. Joe enjoyed softball, was an avid Bruins and Red Sox fan but most of all spending time with his family.
The widower of Lorraine (Arsenault) Moran, he is survived by his son, James F. Moran and his companion Fran Nault of Lawrence,MA; his daughter, Ellen M. Pelletier and her husband Ronald of Manchester, NH. Four grandchildren, Nicole, Scott and Lindsay Pelletier and Danielle Moran and several nieces and nephews.
Joseph was the father of the late Thomas Moran, and was also predeceased by his brothers, Howard, John, Fred and Francis “Mo” Moran and a sister Grace.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Salem Haven Activities Fund 23 Geremonty Drive Salem, NH 03079. Visiting hours for family and friends will be Saturday from 10:30a.m. – 12:00p.m. at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, Inc., 233 Lawrence Street Methuen, MA 01844. Funeral services will follow at 12:00p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will take place at a later date at the convenience of the family.
