Anne (Andrade) Brooks age 94 formerly of Brockton, died Monday January 12, 2015 at the William B. Rice Eventide Home in Quincy after a period of failing health. She was the wife of the late Herbert Brooks. Anne was born and raised in Taunton a daughter of the late Olegario and Mary (Pina) Brooks and had lived in Brockton for many years.
A graduate of Taunton High School, Anne had worked at the Brockton VA Medical Center for many years before retiring. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, fashion and reading. Anne will be remembered as a sassy lady with a terrific sense of style. She was a hard worker who was strong minded, independent yet very caring of others. Most importantly she enjoyed her family and their many accomplishments.
Anne was the mother of the late Constance “Penny” Johnson and Aida (Azokou) “Lynette” Brooks. She was the grandmother of Craig Andrade and his wife Julianne of Brockton, Mark Andrade and his partner Karen Greig of Middletown, PA, Derrick Johnson and his wife Cheryl of New Bedford and the late Aaron Johnson, Jr. Mrs. Brooks was the great grandmother of seven: Zakeya Andrade, Aaron Johnson, III, Chloe Andrade, Cole Andrade, Marcel Johnson, Derrick Johnson, Jr. and Darius Johnson and she was great great grandmother of one: Kendal Johnson. She was the sister of Elsie Lair of Boston and the late Agnes Lopes, Julia Silva and Joseph Andrade. She also leaves many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held in Mayflower Hill Cemetery (on Route 138, corner of Broadway and E. Britannia), Taunton MA on Thursday January 15, 2015 at 11 am. A memorial service will be held at Christ Congregational Church, 1350 Pleasant St., Brockton, MA on Friday, January 16, 2015 at 11 am.
