Obituary

WEBSTER – Edward A. Madden, Jr., 91, died Thursday, January 8, 2015 in Overlook Masonic Health Care, Charlton after a brief illness. His wife of 63 years, Dorothy L. “Dot” Madden, died in 2009.
He leaves 3 daughters, Ellen L. & her husband Carl Wike of Framingham, Nancy & Charles Zamagni of Putnam, CT and Sheila & Timothy Sicard of Westfield; a sister, Sr. Sheila Madden of Paterson, NJ; 8 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his son, Charles T. Madden in 2012.
He was born on December 31, 1923 in Glasgow, Scotland, the son of Edward A. and Martha (O’Neil) Madden, Sr. He emigrated to the United States in 1927 settling in Dudley. He moved to Webster in 1935. He graduated from Saint Louis High School in 1941.
He was an honorably discharged Navy veteran of World War II.
Mr. Madden worked as a superintendent in the Cranston Print Works Company for 46 years retiring in 1986.
He was a communicant of Saint Louis Church, volunteering at many church activities, including the parish festivals.
The funeral will be held Saturday, January 17, with a Memorial Mass at 11:00 AM in Saint Louis Church, 14 Lake Street (please meet at the church). Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Dudley. Donations in his memory may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
