Obituary

Lila Chipman Hall, age 94, a former longtime Centerville resident, died on Friday evening, January 9, 2015, at the Thomas Upham House in Medfield, her home for the past two years. She had been the devoted wife of the late Walter E. Hall.

Born, raised and educated in Milbridge, Maine, she was a daughter of the late Sidney and Vera (Edwards) Chipman. Lila furthered her education in Hartford, Connecticut, and settled in Natick after marrying Walter in 1946.

Lila put great effort into creating a warm and loving home for her family. She loved to cook and truly excelled with seafood dishes. It was also known among family and friends that she was the go-to person for delicious baked goods. Lila enjoyed gardening as well, but time spent with her family topped any list. She and Walter retired to Maine in 1982, and fifteen years later made Centerville on Cape Cod their home.

Widowed in 2006, Lila is survived by two sons, Wayne A. Hall and his wife Jayne of Uxbridge, and Dennis E. Hall and his wife Louise of Millis; four granddaughters, Lauren, Kristen, Nicole, and Emily; two great-granddaughters; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, Roland Chipman and Emma Hodgkins.

A memorial service will be held in the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street at Natick Common, on Thursday, January 15th at 11:00AM.

Relatives and friends may visit with Lila’s family beginning at 10:00AM. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Lila’s memory to First Lutheran Church, 1663 Main Street Route 6A, West Barnstable, MA 02668.
