Arthur J. McManus age 95 of Canton passed away January 10th at the VA Hospital in Brockton. Born in Charlestown, he was raised in Jamaica Plain and was a Veteran of the Army Air Corp during WW II serving in India for 3 years. He worked for New England Telephone as a PBX Installer for 32 years before retiring. Eternally young and strong he was an avid skier until age 85 and an avid swimmer until age 93. He and his wife, Irene, came from musical backgrounds and they had a passion for swing music. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Beloved husband for 65 years of the late Irene R. (Booth). Father of Judith Connolly and husband Martin of Quincy and Barbara McManus of Canton, formerly of South Boston and her late husband Francis Campbell. Grandfather of Jacqueline Connolly, Laura Murphy and her husband Mark, Kerry Waldron and her husband Mark and Brendan McManus. Great grandfather of Sean, Anna, Lila and Odhran. Visiting hours at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home 455 Washington St. Canton Wednesday 4-8 pm. Funeral mass at St. Gerard Majella Church Canton Thursday morning at 10. Burial Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton. Donations may be made in his memory to the Canton Veteran’s Service Department 801 Washington St. Canton, MA 02021. | |||||
