Obituary

Helene Champagne 97, of Woonsocket died Wednesday January 7, in the Friendly Home. She was born in Woonsocket, a daughter of the late Pacifique and Lea (Girard) Champagne. In addition to having worked in the textile industry at the former French Worsted in Woonsocket, she was an LPN for many years at the former Evergreen Nursing Home. Helene also donated her time as a companion to seniors in the Woonsocket area. She was a member of the St. Ann’s Choir, St. Ann’s Ladies Guild, the Royal Travelers, and St. Joseph’s Senior Citizens.

She is survived by her niece Louise Frenger and her husband Stephen of North Smithfield, and her niece Carole Dubois and her husband Robert of Woonsocket, as well as several other nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her brother, Br. Jean Paul Champagne MS, and her sister, Rita Berard of Woonsocket. She was also the sister of the late Bernard, Armand, Victor, and Cecile Champagne, Marguerite Therien,Therese Gouin, and Jeanne d'Arc Champagne. Helene was also the sister of Sr. Pauline Champagne who died January 9, 2015, they will be celebrating their Mass of Christian Burial simultaneously on Monday.

Helene’s funeral with visitation will be held Monday January 12, 2015 at 9:00 AM in the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 99 Cumberland St, Woonsocket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in All Saints Church, Rathbun St. Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery.
