Obituary

Frank Salles III, 84, of Orleans died at home January 4, 2015 while enjoying a vacation from his part-time job. His wife of 57 years, Joyce (Hopkins) Salles passed away in 2010. He was a devoted husband and remained an affectionate father until the end.

Born and educated in Provincetown, he was the son of the late Frank and Anna (Gomes) Salles. A US Navy veteran during the Korean War, he served on the aircraft carrier Midway. During its deployment in the Mediterranean, he visited Lisbon, his ancestral capital. He was very proud of his Portuguese heritage, growing up in Provincetown among fisherman and tourists alike.

Mr. Salles was retired Food Service Manager for the whale watching vessel Ranger V, based in Provincetown. He currently was working part-time at the Stop and Shop Supermarket in Orleans. He enjoyed reading, doing jigsaw puzzles and eating lobster rolls.

He is survived by a son, Jonathan Salles and his wife Georgineti of Southboro and a daughter, Diana Comeau and her husband Paul of Haverhill. He also leaves two sisters, Helen Costa of Orleans and Mary Ann Kochka and her husband, Don of Brewster, as well as many nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will take place at 1:30 pm, Sunday, January 18th at the Orleans United Methodist Church, 73 Main Street, Orleans, MA.
