TEWKSBURY - Mary Rita (Commito) Murphy, age 81, died unexpectedly Monday evening, January 5, at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington, following a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of Charles F. Murphy for 33 years.
Mary was born in Everett, July 8, 1933, a daughter of the late Angelo and Francis (DiThomas) Commito, and was raised in Everett. She was long term resident of Malden and more recently Tewksbury. She had been in residence at Woodbriar of Wilmington for the past year.
Besides her husband, she leaves two daughters, Charlene Keough and her husband Brian of Tewksbury, and Michele Pergentile and her husband John of Melrose; four beloved grandchildren, Justin and Tyler Keough and Hailey and Jake Pergentile; a brother, Elio Commito of Stoneham; many nieces and nephews; and was predeceased by her brothers, Ado Commito and Azio Commito; and sister, Elsa Gaunelli.
In her earlier years, she worked in the plastic processing department at Sweetheart Plastics in Wilmington, and later in the mail room at Bank of America in Malden.
Visiting hours Friday, Jan. 9, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Tewksbury Funeral Home, corner of 1 Dewey and 975 Main Sts. (Rte. 38) TEWKSBURY CENTER, Ph. (800 in MA or 978) 851 2950. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, Jan. 10, at 10:00 a.m. in St. Dorothy’s Church, corner of Harndon and Main Sts. (Rte 38) in Wilmington.
