New Bedford – Zelia Maria Rodrigues, age 73 of New Bedford, passed away on Monday, January 5, 2015 at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was the widow of Jose Rodrigues and the daughter of Carlota (Martins) and Antonio Theodoro.
Mrs. Rodrigues was born in St. Michael, Azores and, after coming to this country, worked as a seamtress in the local dress factories.
She is survived by her 2 sons: Mark P. Rodrigues and his fiancee, Erika Amaral, and Philip Rodrigues and his girlfriend Elizabeth Duarte, all of New Bedford; 2 grandchildren: Laren Faith Amaral and Brett Wayne Amaral, a sister: Leonilde Figueiredo; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brother Jose Alvaro Theodoro.
Her funeral will be Friday beginning in the funeral home at 8:00 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9:00 A.M. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours will take place in the funeral home on Thursday evening from 5 – 8 P.M.
