Obituary

John “Jack”Joseph Laliberty, 77, a resident of Methuen, passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at Lawrence General Hospital surrounded by his family. Jack was born in Lawrence and educated in the Lawrence Schools. He was a 1954 graduate of Central Catholic High School. Jack went on to get an Associate degree in Paper Engineering from Lowell Tech. He had worked as a Production Manager for Merrimac Paper Company for some 38 years. Jack was a Boy Scout Leader for many years. An avid Boston Sports fan who loved the Red Sox and the Bruins, Jack was a coach for the Tower Hill Little League Boys and Girls. He had also coached Basketball for St. Augustine’s Grammar School and had played in the St. Augustine Men’s volleyball league for over 20 years. Jack enjoyed fishing, gardening and camping. He also enjoyed pulling practical jokes. Jack loved playing 45’s and cribbage with his father and other family members. The son of the late William and Mary (Carey) Laliberty, and the father of the late John Laliberty, Jr., Jack is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary B. (Wefers) Laliberty as well as his children, James Michael Laliberty, Sr. of Haverhill, Ellen Marie Melanson and her husband, Eric of Londonderry, N.H., Mary F. Laliberty of Hooksett, N.H.; his sister, Mary F. Casey and her husband, Joseph P. Casey of Lawrence; grandchildren, James Michael Laliberty, II, Sarah Marie Laliberty, Clarice Mary Melanson, Lorrin Marie Melanson, Trevor Clark Melanson and Steven Michael Laliberty; great grandchildren, Erica Doreen Laliberty, James Michael Laliberty, III, and Brielle Soleil Laliberty as well as several nieces and nephews. Jack was predeceased by his brothers, George and William Laliberty.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to call on Sunday, December 28, 2014, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the John Breen Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 122 Amesbury St., Lawrence. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, December 29, 2014, at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish, St. Augustine’s Chapel, 128 Ames St., Lawrence. Burial will take place at a later date.
