Rosalie E. (Danahy) Mason, age 82, of Mansfield, formerly of Dorchester, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Sunday, December 21, 2014 at the Home and Hospice Care of Rhode Island in Providence.
She was the beloved wife of the late Michael L. Mason who died on December 2, 2005.
Born in Boston, MA on September 24, 1932, she was a loving daughter of the late John J. and Elizabeth A. (Cummings) Danahy. She grew up in the Dorchester section of Boston and was a graduate of St. Patrick’s High School.
Prior to retiring, Mrs. Mason had worked for over 40 years as a Payroll Clerk at the former New England Telephone Co; and later when it became Verizon.
A resident of Mansfield for the past 15 years, Rosalie was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Mansfield and had also attended St. Mary’s Church in Norton.
Rosalie loved spending time with her family; especially at Nantasket Beach in Hull. Her other interests included reading and shopping.
She is survived by her devoted children; Catherine M. Connaughton and her husband Paul of Mansfield, Rosemarie Loesher and her husband James of Mansfield, Michael R. Mason of Mansfield, Barbara M. Manley and her husband Thomas of Mansfield and Lisa A. Maffie and her husband Robert of Canton. She was the cherished grandmother of Paul, Robert, Shaun and Ryan Connaughton, Emily and Michael Loesher, Luke and Sean Mason, and Elizabeth, David and Nicholas Manley, and Anthony and Austin Maffie and the adoring great grandmother of Mason Connaughton. She was pre-deceased by her dear 9 siblings and is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Her funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 24th at 8:30 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt St. (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Mansfield.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, December 23rd from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield.
