Alverda (Higgins) (Curry) Ricker, 93, of Hanson, died Tuesday December 16th in the Sachem Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in East Bridgewater. She was the wife of the late Glen Curry, Walter Ricker and Walter Blanchard, her companion for the last 20 years.
Born in Whitman, daughter of the late Byron and Bernice (Randall) Higgins. She was a graduate of Whitman High School class of 1939.
Alverda was a lifelong member of the Whitman First Congregational Church.
She loved sewing and did it for years as a profession, also worked at Saftlers in Whitman for many years. Alverda also enjoyed traveling around the world and sailing on Walter’s sailboat.
She is survived by her daughter Candice Clancy and her husband Timothy of Hanson, her grandson Timothy Clancy and his wife Danielle and their daughter Kiley Shaye Clancy of Whitman , her daughter Elizabeth Curry and her daughter Taylor Nicole Curry Stokes of Naples FL, her sisters Winnifred Robinson and Joan Tucker; also many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Byron and Charles Higgins, Gwendolyn Meier and Pauline Higgins.
The family would like to express their gratitude, to the staff at the Sachem Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in East Bridgewater for all the loving and professional care they gave to Alverda while she was in there care.
