Preceded in death by wife, Lorraine. Loving father of Greg & Kim Scherek; daughter-in-law, Sabrena; proud grandpa of Amberly & Taylor; sister, Jeanette Scherek. Walt was a leader in the development of many athletes in No St Paul as a hockey coach for many years and was inducted into the hockey hall of fame at Polar arena. He was a devoted volunteer fireman for No. St Paul Fire Dept and a retired State Fire Inspector for 20 years before retiring and moving to AZ. Funeral Service Friday (December 19, 2014) 11:30 AM at Christ Ev. Lutheran Church, 2475 E. 17th Ave., North St. Paul. Interment Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Visitation one hour prior to the Service.
