METHUEN – Ronald J. Cornu, 84 of Methuen, passed away Tuesday December 16, 2014 at Merrimack Valley Health Center in Amesbury, MA.
Born and educated in Lawrence, the son of William and Adrienne (Deshaines) Cornu and he was a graduate of Lawrence High School. Ronald served in the U.S. Airforce and was honorably discharged as a Private First Class. He was employed for 15 years at Lawrence General Hospital and prior to his retirement at the Greater Lawrence Community Action, Inc. Ronald was very handy with his hands, which included masonry and construction work.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Rosemary A. (Byrne) Cornu, and also leaves his children, Ronald Cornu and Sandy, Henry Cornu and Dedra, Joyce Maille, Beth and her husband Dick Araujo, Carolyn and her husband Edward Noseworthy and John Whiteside; sisters, Dorothy Berard, Irene Curry, Janet Fischeria and Carol McQueen. Ronald also survived by his 19 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Ronald was the father of the late, Eileen Lehto, David, Richard, William and Michael Cornu and predeceased by his first wife Theresa Bourassa.
Ronald’s family would like to thank the 2nd floor nursing staff of Merrimack Valley Health Center for their comfort and care to Ronald while a resident.
Visiting hours for family and friends will be Thursday from 4:00p.m. – 7:00p.m. at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, Inc., 233 Lawrence Street Methuen, MA 01844. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 11:00a.m. in Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish/St. Theresa’s Church in Methuen, MA with burial to follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lawrence, MA.
