Obituary

Alton E. Cross, 95, formerly of Berlin, NH passed away after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s Disease at the Belmont Manor Nursing Home in Belmont, MA. He was born in Bethel, ME on September 16, 1919 the son of Edward and Gladys (Bennett) Cross and lived in Hartford, CT, Brighton, MA, Franklin, MA and Berlin, NH. Alton had served in the US Army during World War II and was also a member of the National Guard. In Berlin, he was employed by the Brown Paper Company. He later attended the Massachusetts Radio School and worked as a television repairman for RCA and GE. He was a member of St. Barnabas Church.

He is survived by his son John Cross and his wife Pamela Curtis of Cambridge, MA; grandson Robert Cross of Cambridge, MA;sister Mary Hester of Washington and Maine. He was predeceased by his wife Alice Cross (May 21, 2002) and his brothers Stuart, Donald and Norton and his sister Norma Cross.

The family would like to thank the Belmont Nursing Home for the excellent care Alton received.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday December 17, 2014 at 10 AM at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in Berlin. Interment will be in the New City Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Ave., Berlin on Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 PM. Donations in his memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
