Obituary

Manuel N. Medeiros, age 85, formally of Somerset, passed away December 7, 2014 at Kimwell Nursing Home. He was the loving husband of the late Isabel (Mendonca) Medeiros. Born in Povoação, St. Miguel, Açores he was the son of the late Joseph De Medeiros and Laura (Bento) Medeiros. Prior to retirement he worked as a supervisor for Swan Finishing for 30 years. Manuel was a parishioner of St. John of God Parish and served as one of the collectors during Sunday Mass. He was a 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus and member of the Portuguese American Civic League of Somerset. He wrote many columns for the Portuguese Newspaper called Diario de Noticias in New Bedford, MA and was the columnist for the town of Bristol. In Portugal he was a Morse Code Operator for the Portuguese Army and was employed by the Ministry of the Interior for Ponta Delgada. He immigrated to the United States in 1957.

He leaves behind his daughters Anna-Paula Ferreira and Elizabeth Hyde (husband Jeffrey) all of Somerset; his siblings Marcelino Medeiros of Taunton, Gilda Franco of Fall River and Teresa Moniz of Somerset; grandchildren Cynthia McDonough, Timothy Ferreira, Jacquelyn Ferreira and Madison Hyde; great-grandchildren Cloey Rodrigues and Gianni Manuel Dieter as well as several nieces and nephews.

Family wishes to thank Dr. Kenny and the 3rd floor staff at Kimwell Nursing Home for their care and compassion of Manuel Medeiros.

His funeral will take place from the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME 1521 N. Main St. Fall River on SATURDAY here at 9 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial St. John of God Church at 10 A.M.
