Stephen Carl Spencer, 58, passed away peacefully at home on December 6, 2014 after a 2 year battle with glioblastoma multiforme, an aggressive form of brain cancer.
He was born on September 7, 1956 in Lake Worth, FL to Carl Ronald Spencer and Judith Corona Smith and has lived the last 7 years in Chesterfield.
Steve is a Navy veteran and self-published author of the Paul Mallory novels. In his spare time, he enjoyed all forms of sports, writing, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife Melissa, two children, Kaitlin Malone and Evan Spencer, both of Chesterfield, two brothers, Michael (Elizabeth) Spencer of Tennessee, and Todd Spencer of Florida.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents.
The family would like to thank IU Health Oncology at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Gentiva Hospice, and the countless others who have travelled with us on this journey.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to the American Brain Tumor Association at www.abta.org/donate in honor of Stephen Spencer.
A memorial service will be held at Central Christian Church in Anderson, on Thursday, December 11,2014 at 3PM in the main sanctuary.
