TAUNTON – Maria (Machado) Resendes, wife of the late Agostinho Sousa Resendes, died at the Taunton Nursing Home on Dec. 5, 2014.
She was 89.
Born in Santa Maria, Azores, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Justina (Almada Chaves) Machado.
A Taunton area resident since 1968, Mrs. Resendes was employed by the former Sheridan Silver Company for many years, before retiring many years ago.
She was a communicant of St. Andrew the Apostle Church, and in her spare time, enjoyed crocheting.
Her greatest pleasure was spending time with her beloved family.
Survivors include four daughters, Maria L. Dos Anjos and her husband Jose of Bristol, RI, and Ludy Resendes, Linda Sabino and Lydia C. Resendes, all of Taunton; a sister, Ermelinda Pimentel of Taunton; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Antonio C. Resendes and Jose Resendes, and the sister of the late Antonio Leonardo Machado and Jose, Joao, Manuel and Dinis Machado.
Her funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Wednesday, Dec. 10th at 9:30 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Andrew the Apostle Church at 11 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
The family will be receiving visitors at the funeral home between the hours of 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. prior to the funeral mass.
