Obituary

Richard B. McDonald, a longtime resident of Stoughton and United States Coast Guard Veteran of the Korean War passed away after a brief illness in Brockton on December 5, 2014. He was 85 years old and the beloved husband of the late Shirley R. (Hubbard) McDonald. Survivors include his 4 children, Craig H. McDonald and his wife Linda of Brockton, James S. McDonald and his wife Kathleen of Rockland, Susan Carlson of Marlboro, Linda K. McDonald of Stoughton, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and his brother Kenneth McDonald of California. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was also a father to the late Jeffrey B. McDonald.

Born November 4, 1929 in Spokane, Washington Richard was a son to the late Robert and Marybelle (McCracken) McDonald. He was employed as a driver by several area trucking companies for many years. He and his late wife were former members and had attended the First United Methodist Church in Stoughton. Dick was also a member of the former I.O.O.O.F. Lodge in Stoughton. He was also an avid hockey and football fan and enjoyed spending time with his family and close friends. Richard will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

His funeral service will be held on Tuesday December 9, 2014 at 11A.M. from the Sheehan, Lowe & Powers Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 115 Monk Street, Stoughton. Burial with military honors will follow at Maplewood Cemetery, Stoughton. NOTE: A visiting hour will be held prior to the funeral service from 10 – 11 A.M. ALL ARE WELCOMWE TO ATTEND. Flowers are welcome.
