Michael Garrity

Michael X. Garrity, age 71 unexpectedly passed away peacefully in his sleep from heart disease on December 4, 2014 at his home in Canton. Mike was born in Roslindale on November 1, 1943 to the late Francis J. “Hank” Garrity and Louise Ryder. He grew up in West Roxbury.
He attended the Mozart School in Roslindale, later went on to Boston Technical High School (now known as John D. O’Bryant School of Mathematics and Science) where he played football. He graduated from Wentworth Institute of Technology. Mike married Doreen Poliseno and they had two children, Kimberly and and Michael Xavier. He was a proud member of the Carpenter’s Local 67 for twenty plus years before retiring in the late 90’s.
Mike’s family and friends were his greatest passion. He especially adored his five grandsons.
He is survived by his son Michael Garrity of West Bridgewater, a grandson Michael Garrity of Kalamazoo Michigan, daughter Kimberly A. Dadasis and her husband William of Canton and their children Louis, Michael, William and Jason. Also he is survived by his sister Doris “Sue” Riordon of Mashpee, ex-wife Doreen Mahoney of West Bridgewater, dearest friend Wanda Mock of Weymouth and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Peter Garrity and brother-in-law Herbert Riordon.
Mike’s kind and generous spirit lingers in the lives of all that knew him. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral mass on Saturday, December 13th at 10:00 am in the Holy Name Church, 1689 Centre Street West Roxbury, MA. The interment will follow at Knollwood Memorial Park 321 High St. Canton, MA.
