Obituary

NATICK: Mary A. (Golding) Murphy, age 75, a lifelong Natick resident, died on Wednesday, December 3, 2014, with her loving family at her side at Milford Regional Medical Center. She was the devoted wife of the late Harvey A. Murphy for 35 years.

Born in Newton, she was the third of the eleven children of the late Lewis and Gladys (Arnold) Golding. Mary was raised and educated in Needham, and after graduation from Needham High School was employed as a secretary for several years.

Mary and Harvey were married in 1965 and settled in Natick shortly thereafter. Mary created a warm and loving home for her family and delighted in any involvement with her children’s extracurricular activities. She later rejoined the workforce, first as a cashier with Purity Supreme and Heartland Foods, and later working with the US Census Bureau in Framingham.

The Murphy’s enjoyed annual vacations in West Yarmouth, season tickets to events at Loudon Speedway, and spur of the moment jaunts to such destinations as Atlantic City. A friendly lady who enjoyed socializing, Mary was most content when in the company of her children, and particularly her grandchildren

Predeceased by Harvey in 2000, and their son Glenn A. Murphy in 2012, she is survived by a son, Gregg A. Murphy and his wife Gerri of Hopkinton; a daughter, Sandra A. Murphy and her husband Jerry Fosberg of Natick; seven grandchildren, Kyle, Hannah, Jason, Dylan, Keira, Katerina, and Murphy; her siblings, Charlie Golding and his wife Lee of Bellingham, Peter Golding and his wife Sindi of Quincy, Carol Murphy of Bellingham, Lewis Golding and his wife Tanya of Franklin, Alice Sparhawk of Idaho, Paul Golding and his wife Brenda of Colorado, Jimmy Golding and his wife Marilyn of Watertown, and Tommy Golding of Newton; her brother-in-law, Ray DeMaio of New Hampshire; and many nieces, nephews, and their families. Mary was also the sister of the late Shirley DeMaio and John Golding.

Her funeral service will be held in the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street at Natick Common, on Tuesday, December 9th at 11:00AM. Burial will follow in Dell Park Cemetery. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.

Visiting hours will be on Monday, 4 – 7PM.
