HAVERHILL: Nancy A. (Cordwell) Bidwell, 84, died quietly in her sleep surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, November 29, 2014 at Penacook Place in Haverhill, MA. She was the beloved wife and best friend of the late Milton (Bud) H. Bidwell, Jr. who died December 29, 2010.
Born in Berlin, New Hampshire on October 5, 1930, Nancy was the daughter of the late Clarence (Buster) and Mary E. (Cox) Cordwell. While she and her family lived in Saugus, and then Wakefield, for many years, for the last few years she lived in Haverhill to be closer to her daughters. Nancy was a graduate of Concord Nursing School and received a Bachelor of Science degree from New England College in 1982.
Nancy was employed as a registered nurse at Elliot, Saugus General Hospital and the VNA, and staff development coordinator at Hammersmith House. She loved hiking and cross country skiing, bird watching and reading, watching her favorite sports, and visiting with her far flung family. She and Bud particularly loved traveling to Nova Scotia.
She is survived by her five daughters, Shelley Christopher, Susan Perrotta and her husband Ralph of Newburyport, MA, Nancy Harrell and her husband Paul of Reading, MA, Mary Rizo-Patron and her husband Alfredo of Waynesville, OH, and Jennifer Fahey and her husband Tom of West Newbury, MA. She has 13 grandchildren and two beautiful great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother David Cordwell and his wife Sam, of Berlin, NH, and their children. She was also pre-deceased by her brother Richard Cordwell.
