Gilford----Robert R. O’Donnell, 83, of 15 Bacon Drive #6, died on Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at the Belknap County Nursing Home, Laconia.
Bob was born October 14, 1931 in Medford, Mass., the son of the late Joseph E. and Olive M. (Rice) O’Donnell.
Bob resided in Medford for several years before moving to Gilford, N.H. thirty-eight years ago. He served in the U. S. Marine Corps during the Korean War and had been employed at Borden Chemical for forty years before retiring in 1991.
Bob was a past Commander of the Lakes Region Detachment Marine Corps League and was a founding member of the Alton Shores Association in Alton, N.H. He enjoyed following all New England sports teams, Gilford Beach with his family, Hart’s Turkey Farm, Meredith and the camp in North Conway.
Survivors include his wife of sixty years, Barbara J. ( Hoyles) O’Donnell of Gilford; three sons, Robert R. O’Donnell, Jr. of Gilford, Richard E. O’Donnell of Meredith and Brian S. O’Donnell of Sanbornton; a daughter, Debora J. O’Donnell, and her husband, James A. Fecteau, of Hooksett; four grandchildren, Derek, Darren, Daryl and Kristin; eight great grandchildren; a sister, Olive Post, and her husband, Sonny, of Medford, Mass. and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by his brothers, Joseph, Richard and Jack and a sister, Dorothy.
There will be no calling hours.
A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, December 8, 2014 at 11:00AM in the Chapel at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen, N.H.
Burial will follow the service.
