Obituary

Mr. Robert E. “Bob” Serverius, beloved husband of Beverly D. (Hannan) and a resident of Derry, NH, formerly of Andover, MA, died peacefully at his home on Friday, November 28, 2014. He was 72 years old.

Born in Sint-Niklaas Belgium on September 22, 1942 to the late Emiel J. and Clementine (Vaerewijck) Serverius, as a family, they emigrated from Belgium in 1947. Bob served in the US Marines and earned the sharpshooter designation. He later entered the reserves. His love of aviation began in early childhood. As a boy, he used to climb the fence at the Lawrence Municipal Airport, in North Andover, MA, where he eventually worked for more than 20 years as a pilot and then in various roles, including general manager. A member of AOPA for more than 30 years, Bob had owned and enjoyed flying his own airplane. He will be remembered for his wit, kindness and generosity, love of maritime activities, animals. His favorite time of year was Christmas.

Bob was a loving brother to the late Werner, and father of Denise and her husband Doug Meyer of Noblesville, IN, Robert C. Serverius, Jr. of Derry, NH and grandfather of Emily Meyer and Alexa Serverius. Family was paramount to him and he will be dearly missed.

A celebration of life will be held in the Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 390 North Main Street, Andover, on Saturday at 11am. Relatives and friends are welcome to attend. Visitation will be held prior to the service, from 9:30am to 11am. Interment will be private. Donations in Bob's memory may be made to the MSPCA, 400 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844.
