Eric Socrates, 52 of North Myrtle Beach, SC formerly of Ashland, MA and Wayland, MA died unexpectedly at his home on November 28, 2014. He was the beloved husband of Sue (Shearer) Socrates and his shining star Dalton his son. He is survived by his parents Alex and Madeline Socrat of Wayland, MA and his brother Aaron Socrat and his wife Patty of Natick, MA. and their children Nicholas, Katherine and Alaina. Father and mother in law Douglas and Ann Shearer of Lancashire England, his nieces and nephew Jodi, Sophie, Tasha and Brandon of Lancashire, England. Eric graduated from Wayland High School and Castleton State College in Vermont where he majored in communications and literature and played collegiate baseball. He had a stellar career in software sales and achieved many awards. He was an passionate sports fan especially baseball and the Red Sox. Many a “hot stove” debate was had and every year spring showed so much promise for a new season. He was an avid reader, a movie buff and loved his music and photography. Eric also loved the beach and the warm weather that South Carolina offered. Eric was a magnanimous, larger than life character who would make strangers laugh and feel connected to him in an instant. His biggest success in life, one that he wasn’t shy to share, was his son Dalton. They shared a special father-son bond filled with teasing, laughter, respect and lots of baseball. A real family man who knew how to love. He will be truly missed. Relatives and Friends are invited to attend his Funeral Service on Saturday December 6, at 10:30 A.M. in the Albanian Orthodox Church of the Annunciation, 37 Washington Street Natick, MA. Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery Wayland.
Visiting hours are Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. in the John Everett and Sons Funeral Home 4 Park Street, at Natick Common.
