Obituary

Mr. Richard A.J. Wilford, of Taunton, died Sunday, November 30 in Morton Hospital following a period of failing health. He was the beloved husband of the late Evelyn (Correia) Wilford and the late Fannie O. (Perry) Wilford. He was born 91 years ago in Taunton, the son of the late Albion J. and Yvonne (Cote) Wilford. He was educated in Taunton and had been a lifelong city resident. Prior to his retirement, Richard had been employed as a moldmaker for Lynn Products of Taunton for over 30 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving with Battery A of the 734th Field Artillery Battalion, and saw action in Northern France, the Rhineland, the Ardennes and Central Europe. Richard was a member of the Chester A. Bearse Post #405, American Legion of Raynham, and the David F. Adams Post #611, Veterans of Foreign Wars of Taunton. He enjoyed planting his garden, working outdoors, and his dogs, Jake, Angel and the newest, Blackie. He was a communicant of St. Jude the Apostle Parish in Taunton.
He leaves: 2 daughters: Sharon M. Maycock and her husband, Paul of Woonsocket, R.I., and Bernadette M. Hilton of Taunton; 1 sister: Lorraine Barefoot of Taunton, and several nieces and nephews. Richard was also the brother of the late Vivian Tourigny of Taunton.
Funeral services will be held from The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street, on Friday, December 5 at 9:00 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in St. Jude the Apostle Church at 10:00 A.M. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours will be held on Thursday, from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to the Joslin Diabetes Center, 1 Joslin Place, Boston, Ma., 02215.
