Anthony W. George, age 55, of Foxboro, formerly of Jamaica Plain passed away on Sunday, November 30, 2014 at the VA Medical Center in West Roxbury.
Born in Boston, MA on October 6, 1959, he was a loving son of Hilda B. George of Foxboro. He grew up and was educated in Jamaica Plain.
For over 20 years, Anthony proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army. For most of his military career he served as a Supply Sergeant and for two tours of duty was stationed in Bosnia and for one tour of duty in Quantanamo Bay, Cuba.
Following his discharge from active duty, he served fulltime in the Massachusetts National Guard and also continued his education; taking courses at the University of Massachusetts in Boston and Lowell.
A resident of Foxboro for the past 8 years, Anthony enjoyed spending time with his family and was quite a history buff; WWII events being his favorite subject.
In addition to his mother,he is survived by his devoted brother and sister; Richard F. George and his wife Jean of Mansfield and Grace L. Kielpinski and her husband Jeffrey of Foxboro. He was the loving uncle of Jennifer Caligiuri and her husband Patrick of California, Christopher George of Mansfield, Alexandra George of Connecticut, Andrew Kielpinski of Foxboro and George Kielpinski of Foxboro.
His Funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Thursday, December 4th at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 58 Carpenter St., Foxboro. Burial with military will follow at the Rockhill Cemetery in Foxboro.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, December 3rd from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield.
