Obituary

WEBSTER – Nellie (Plotczyk) Galonek, 94, died Friday, November 28, 2014 in Beaumont Rehab & Skilled Nursing Center, Worcester, with her family at her side. Her husband of 53 years, Chester S. Galonek, died in 2000.
She leaves a son, John C. Galonek and his wife Donna of Charlton; a daughter, Linda A. Roy and her husband Francis “Skip” Roy of Ayer; 5 grandchildren, Heidi Galonek Feldser and her husband David of Bryn Mawr, PA. John J. Galonek and his wife Lynne of Farmington Hills, MI, Megan M. Haughton and her husband David of Somerville, Christopher R. Roy and his wife Jessie of Harvard, and Timothy E. Roy of Allston; 3 great-grandchildren, Noah, Ryan and Charlie; nieces and nephews.
She was born in Webster, one of the ten children of John and Julia (Ziemba) Plotczyk and lived in Webster and Dudley most of her life.
Mrs. Galonek was a hand stitcher at the American Optical Company in Southbridge in her youth. She was a homemaker most of her life.
She was a member of Saint Louis Church. She loved reading, gardening, cooking and excelled at different crafts, especially quilting. She loved her grandchildren.
The funeral will be held Thursday, December 4, from the Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School St., with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Saint Louis Church, 14 Lake Street. Burial will be in St. Joseph Garden of Peace. A calling period will be from 8:30 to 9:30 Thursday morning in the funeral home.
