Sr. and Sarah Huebner, Alvin is survived by his loving wife of 48 years Charlotte (Taplin) Huebner, his four children Stephen, Susan, David and Mark, and his daughters-in-law Tricia (Lynch) Huebner and Melissa (Allen) Huebner, a brother Richard and his wife Carol (Pulsford) Huebner. Alvin also had four cherished grandchildren, Caryl and Matthew Huebner and Matteo and Milana Bellomo. Alvin was a 1954 graduate of Tenney High School in Methuen, MA and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Gordon College. Alvin also earned two postgraduate degrees from Salem State College, a Masters of Education Administration and a Masters of Education in School Counseling. Alvin taught Drivers Education at Methuen High School before stepping into the role of Guidance Counselor. He later became Director of Guidance and retired from Methuen High School. He enjoyed his travels aboard an aircraft carrier and was able to pursue his love of photography while patrolling the Mediterranean Sea aboard the USS Forrestal. Alvin was an active board member of the Methuen Municipal Employees' Federal Credit Union, serving as chairman of the Credit Committee for several years. Alvin was also active within the Methuen High School Alumni Association. Al loved the outdoors and spent much of his free time fishing with his close friends and sons. From Forest Lake in Methuen to Canobie Lake in Salem, Al loved swapping fishing stories and was always hoping to catch “a lunker”. Al was also an avid birdwatcher and always had his feeders filled with seed. He also loved gardening and maintained a vegetable garden for many years. In his later years he enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and other activities.
Kind and generous, Alvin was always a true gentleman who had a passion for life. He always believed that an education was the key to one’s success and treasured his time spent working with young people to help guide them on their educational paths. Alvin’s family loved him very much and will miss him dearly.
