Eileen H. (Gaughan) Hannagan passed away peacefully at Wingate Nursing Home, Haverhill, Ma on November 23, 2014. She was predeceased by her husband John and her son Michael. She was also predeceased by her brothers and sisters, James, Peter, John, Mary, Theresa, Anna, and Kathleen. She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen A. O'Donohue of Haverhill, Ma., John J. and his wife Debra of Haverhill, James E. and his wife Caron of Methuen and Steven of Lowell. She is survived by 6 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren & several nieces and nephews.
Eileen worked until she was 75 years old at Lawrence General Hospital, where she was lovingly known as the "butterfly lady", as she always wore a butterfly in hair. This was symbol hope for her. She was a strong lady. She loved music, especially Irish music. She loved her annual trip to Foxwoods with her sisters Mary and Anna, where the three of them would have a lot of fun and ohh the stories. She also loved to vacation in Virginia with her sister Anna, where she went quite often.
The family would like to thank the staff at Wingate Nursing Home, Alzheimer Unit, Haverhill, Ma for their compassionate and loving care that they provided to her. These are the angels on earth as they do God's work everyday.
Friends are invited to attend a funeral mass at St. Patrick Church, 118 South Broadway, Lawrence, MA at 11:00AM on Friday, November 28, 2014. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery in Methuen.
