Obituary

Margaret "Peggie" R. (Hikel) Hunt, 69, a resident of Londonderry, NH, passed away on Monday, November 17, 2014, at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, TX.on the eleventh anniversary of her husband Walter's passing,

Born in Methuen, MA, Peggie attended St. Mary's Grammar School, the Tarbox School, and then graduated from Tenney High School in Methuen in 1963. She then continued her education graduating with the first class from Castle College in Windham, NH.
Peggie was retired from the Londonderry School System where she had worked as Administrative Assistant for many years. She recently retired from her part time position at Atrium in Hudson, NH.

She loved her Catholic faith and when her health permitted, gave of her time and talent helping at Our Lady of the Cedars,
St. Basil's, St. Joseph's and St. Jude Parishes. She volunteered with her family for many years serving at Lazarus House Thanksgiving Dinners, St. Basil's Cursillo and recently at Ann Marie House in Manchester, NH. Peggie enjoyed playing cards with her friends at Woodland and especially enjoyed vacationing with family in Aruba.

Peggie was a shining light to her family and will live on forever in their hearts. She always made each one feel very special, being attentive to what they had to say, quietly encouraging and complementing them on their achievements. She was never too busy to attend any school function her grandchildren , grandnieces and grandnephews were involved in. She was a wonderful sister, mother, sitto, godmother, aunt and cousin.


Her warm, peace filled presence drew many to her seeking her wisdom and guidance. She leaves behind several close cousins and many dear friends, too numerous to mention, whom she loved and who loved her.

The daughter of the late Edward J. and Hannah A. (Nahill) Hikel and wife of the late Walter J. Hunt, Jr.
Members of Peggie's family include: her son Jeremy J. Hunt and his wife Melissa of Dallas, TX, a daughter Amy T. Fountain and her husband Stephen of Londonderry, NH, sisters Dora "Dolly" Shiepe and her husband Ted of Hooksett, NH and Meg (Hikel) Leighton of Maine. Peggie is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 1 little one on the way: Brittani, Jennifer, Elijah, Sophia, Gemma, Ethan, and Samuel, as well as 4 nieces and 3 nephews who loved her very much and she regarded as her own: Doreen, Catherine, Michelle, Jensina, Michael, Ted Jr., and Edward III.

She was the beloved sister of the late Edward J. Hikel, Jr.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, November 24, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. in St. Joseph's Melkite Catholic Church, 241 Hampshire St., Lawrence, MA. Burial will follow in the United Lebanese Cemetery in Andover, MA. Family and friends may call on Sunday, November 23, 2014 from 3 to 7 P.M. at the John Breen Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 122 Amesbury St., Lawrence, MA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Peggie's name to St. Basil's Seminary, 30 East St., Methuen, MA, 01844.
