Obituary

Theresa L. (Gaumont) Martineau, 89, of Methuen, passed away peacefully on Wednesday November 19th after a period of declining health. She was born in Lawrence daughter of the late Eugene and Eugenia (Gaudreau) Gaumont. Theresa attended St Anne’s grammar and high school. She retired from Unitrode Corporation in 1984. She and her husband Red were former members of the Slips and Clutches square dancing club. Theresa was a devout Catholic being a parishioner of Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish, St Theresa Church for over 60 years, was a former member of the choir, a member of Ladies of St Anne, member of the Nocturnal Adoration in Lowell, member of the Third Order of Mary were she was past treasurer, and attended Eucharistic Adoration for the last 14 years at Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish St Theresa Church. She will be remembered for her strong faith and devotion to the Blessed Mother. Theresa always welcomed everyone into her home and had a special love for children.

Theresa is predeceased by her husband of 34 years Lucien “Red” Martineau, and is survived by a son Donald Martineau and his partner Debbie Paron of Derry NH, daughter Helene OBrien and her husband Michael of Londonderry NH and their daughter Michelle, son Robert Martineau and his wife Sue of Derry NH and his children Bobby, Jillian, Nicholas, and their mother Mary Rowson, son Roger Martineau of Methuen and his children Danielle, Christopher, Amanda, son Richard Martineau of Methuen, son Kenneth Martineau and his wife Kelly of Raymond NH, and their children Joseph, Jacob, and Johnathan, 8 great grandchildren, sisters Jeanne Bienvenue, Annette Lescarbeau, brothers John Gaumont, and Sam Gaumont. Besides her husband Red and her parents, Theresa is predeceased by her sons Dennis Martineau and Joseph Martineau, a sister Cecile Soucy, brothers Eugene Gaumont, and Louie Gaumont.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend calling hours on Sunday November 23rd from 2-7 PM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home 233 Lawrence Street in Methuen. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday November 24th at 10 AM at Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish St Theresa’s Church in Methuen followed by burial at Elmwood Cemetery also in Methuen. The Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home is honored by assisting the Martineau family through this difficult time.
