NORTH DIGHTON - Joseph A. Coelho, husband of the late Jean (Brady) Coelho, died at Rhode Island Hospital on Nov. 17, 2014.
He was 90 years old.
Born in Taunton, he was the son of the late Joseph and Susan (Torres) Coelho.
A lifelong area resident, Joe was a 1942 graduate of Dighton High School and an Army Veteran of WW II.
A retired superintendent, he was employed by the former Dighton Industries for many years until 1999.
He was communicant of St. Nicholas of Myra Church and a member of the DAV Chapter 57.
A staunch Republican, Joe enjoyed politics and political discussion, gardening, yard work, flowers, and occasionally fishing.
He leaves four sons, James, Jon and Jerome Coelho, all of North Dighton, and Joseph Coelho of Titusville, FL; a daughter, Jean Lahousse of North Dighton; eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren; an aunt; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also the father of the late Joan Coelho and the brother of the late Helen Rose.
His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Saturday, Nov. 22nd at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Mary’s Church at 10 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
