Obituary

Elisabeth “Veta” (Parafestas) Nikiforakis, 66, of Worcester died, Tuesday, November 18th surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Michael Nikiforakis; her son Poseidon Nikiforakis of Worcester; her daughter, Grace Theoharidis and her husband, Dennis of Dennis; a brother, Anastasios Parafestas and his wife, Georgia of Worcester; two sisters, Mina Panagiotou, and her husband, Panos and Margarita Panagopoulos both of Worcester; six grandchildren, Jerrica Hassan, Michael Nikiforakis, Elisabeth Harachaoui, Dennis, Michael and Andrew Theoharidis, and many nephews and nieces. A sister, Chrysavgi Lykopoulos predeceased her.
She was born in Thessaloniki, Greece the daughter of George and Paraskevi (Menegatou) Parafestas. Veta had owned and operated North Brookfield Pizza and Seafood, and previously had owned Mike’s Pizza in Spencer before retiring. She was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral. Mrs. Nikiforakis enjoyed time being surrounded by family and friends, most especially her beloved grandchildren. She will be remembered for her ever-present warm smile.
Her funeral is Friday, November 21st from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, with a service at 11:00 a.m. in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street. Burial will be Monday, November 24th at Noon in Ancient Cemetery, Yarmouth. Calling hours are Thursday, November 20th from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers please make memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701 or to St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral.
