Obituary

Madalena (DaCosta) Andrade, 79, of New Bedford died November 17, 2014 peacefully at Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center. She was the wife of Alcides Andrade.
Born in Brava, Cape Verde, the daughter of the late Alfred J. and Adelia (Barros) DaCosta, she lived in New Bedford since 1963.
She was a communicant of Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish.
Mrs. Andrade was formerly employed as a stitcher in several local textile mills for many years until her retirement.
She was a member of Ideal Club. She enjoyed dancing, cooking, baking and music.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Lucas Andrade and his wife Eliza and Tomas Andrade, all of New Bedford; her siblings, Elsie Gonsalves of Sacramento, CA, Manuel DaCosta of Randolph, Maria Bala of Pawtucket, RI and Matilda DaCosta Ribeiro of Lisbon, Portugal; a grandson, Joshua Andrade and his wife Elaine; a great-granddaughter, Nari Madeline Andrade; and nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Olivier DaCosta, Victoria Viegas, Maria DaGraca, and Antonio DaCosta.
Her Funeral will be held on Friday, November 21st at 8 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by her Funeral Mass at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church at 9 AM. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Thursday, November 20th from 5-8 PM.
